Twenty seconds of details, then your phone rings. It's Sunny, our automated specialist. No salespeople and no commissions, which is how the price stays where it is.
Next: your own page opens. Upload your bill there while Sunny rings, and watch it turn into your proposal.
No. Sunny is our automated specialist, and the call is recorded. There are no salespeople and no sales commissions. The automated process is what makes the price possible. Anything she can't answer, we find out and text you.
There are three sizes and three final prices, all on your proposal. The price you see covers it all: the battery, the installation, the cabling and the commissioning. Our prices already include the federal home battery rebate, which the installer claims on your behalf after installation. The rebate is set by the government and by your installation date.
SunnySplit: 4 easy payments. No interest. No fees. 5% when you sign, 35% when installation starts, 30% 14 days after it is switched on, and 30% 28 days after it is switched on. Or pay in full: same price either way. Payments are by card, and you are texted before each one.
Yes, tell us on the form. Whether you have solar changes what applies to your home.
Think of iPhones: waiting rarely gets you a cheaper one, just a newer one for about the same money. Batteries are much the same, and the federal rebate is heading the other way: it steps down every six months, and it's set by your installation date, not the day you sign.
There's no call centre at Home Battery Online: it runs on texts and Sunny's calls, and the people behind it read every message. Ask on your page or reply to any of our texts, and the answer comes back by text as soon as we can.
It's an AlphaESS SMILE-M5. It's a lithium iron phosphate battery, LFP for short. That's the chemistry the industry settled on for home storage because it runs cooler and copes better with being charged and emptied every single day than the older laptop-style lithium. Every size we sell is the same battery. The bigger ones are just more blocks stacked up.
Two things. The chemistry itself, lithium iron phosphate, is the stable one; it's chosen for home storage precisely because it doesn't behave like the lithium in a phone or a scooter. And the unit has a built-in aerosol suppression system that triggers inside the cabinet without anyone doing anything. It's also installed by a licensed electrician to the Australian standard.
Yes, backup is part of our standard installation. When the grid goes down, the battery keeps a set of essential circuits running rather than the whole house, and which ones depends on how your switchboard is wired. The installer goes through that with you before the day, so you know exactly what stays on.
Usually, yes. It takes up to about double a typical rooftop's worth of panels, so there's room to add more later too. Whether your existing inverter stays or changes is part of the technical check of your setup.
AlphaESS have been making home batteries since 2012 and selling them in Australia since 2015, and by their own count more than 300,000 of their systems are installed around the world. The SMILE-M5 is their newest model, on sale here since 2025, so the long record is the brand's and the chemistry's rather than this exact model's, and the ten-year warranty is what covers you either way.
The 15 kWh is the largest we install. For most homes it covers the bulk of a typical evening, and if your bill says you'd use more than any one battery holds, we'd rather tell you that than oversell you.
There's no set number of panels. What matters is whether yours can fill the size you choose, and that's checked from your bill (a winter one is best) and a photo of your inverter's sticker before you sign. On days the sun can't fill it, it tops up from the grid at the cheapest time.
It can depend on your deal. Some older solar feed-in schemes have conditions about changing the system, so that's one to check against your own terms before anything is installed. We won't guess at it. Day to day, you'll send less solar to the grid, because the battery keeps it for your evening instead.
They are used to size, price and install your battery, and for nothing else. How long we keep them and who processes them is on our privacy page. Read more.
